An octagon shaped picnic table can be a great increasing to any outdoor living area. Not only is it attractive, it also is beneficial as you can categorically seat eight adults. It gives you the free time to eat together as a family without rubbing elbows. And since you can eat outside, there's a lot less clean up!
However, this shape of table can be harder to build than a customary picnic table. It requires a lot more measuring and cutting. This is one type of task that you absolutely need a good set of octagon picnic table plans!
Before you get your plans, you first need to rule on the sorts of features you want your table to have. Would you like to have an umbrella in the middle? Do you want the benches to be detached or attached? If the table is for adults, I would recommend detached benches as this gives you more flexibility in spacing. It's also a tiny easier for those of us less limber than a fifteen year old to get in and out of. Also, detached benches are not as difficult to make.
You also need to rule on what sort of wood you want to use to make your table. Pine is the cheapest, but it won't last long. Cedar and redwood are two popular choices. They withhold their color and shape outdoors, which gives your table some longevity. However, they are a bit more expensive.
